Fitch

Fitch Support

Fitch records your runs and rides with GPS and lets you race your own saved routes against a replay of your past self. Routes are colored by pace, splits are shown in kilometres or miles, and three virtual companions (Leo, Maya, and Max) give you something to chase. Your activities stay on your device and in your own private iCloud. There is no account, no social feed, no ads, and no subscription.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Fitch ask for location permission?

Fitch asks for location the first time you start a run or ride, not on the Home screen. It needs it to record your route and, once granted, to show where you are on the Home map. Choose Allow While Using the App and keep Precise Location on. Without precise location, Fitch cannot build a usable route. If you decline, you can still view and manage saved activities, but you cannot record new ones. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security > Location Services > Fitch.

Does Fitch keep recording when my screen is locked?

Yes. Once you start a run or ride, Fitch continues recording in the background with the screen locked, and iOS shows the location indicator while it does. Pausing stops location updates. Fitch never records your location when you are not in an active recording.

Why is Fitch waiting for GPS before it starts?

Fitch waits for a fresh, precise GPS fix before the workout clock starts, so the first part of your route is accurate. Waiting time is not counted as workout time. GPS locks faster outdoors with a clear view of the sky. Closing the wait screen cancels the recording.

How does iCloud sync work?

Fitch stores every activity on your device and mirrors it to the private iCloud database for your Apple Account. Sign in to iCloud on each device you use, and your runs, rides, and race results appear on all of them. Sync happens in the background and may take a moment after saving. The developer cannot see your data. If you are not signed in to iCloud, everything still works locally.

My activities are not showing up on my other device.

Check that both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account, that iCloud is enabled for Fitch in iOS Settings, and that the device has a network connection. Open Fitch and pull the app to the foreground; it refreshes after remote changes. An activity that was still being recorded on one device will not appear on another until it is finished and saved.

How do I race a saved route?

Open the Races tab, pick a saved run or ride, and choose to race it. Start near the route’s first pin and follow the same direction. A teal runner or cyclist replays your previous effort while the live time gap shows whether you are ahead or behind. Leaving the route suspends the comparison; return to it to continue. Finishing the route saves a personal race result.

What are virtual companions?

Leo holds a steady speed you set. Maya targets a little above your own recent average in the selected sport. Max starts fast and surges in waves. Pick one in Settings, then tap Add companion during a recording. All three run on your device and share your workout clock, so pausing freezes the companion too.

Why does my distance or pace differ slightly from another app or a race result?

Fitch uses GPS estimates. It accepts only accurate fixes, filters stationary noise, and breaks the route line during pauses and signal gaps rather than inventing distance, so totals can differ from other apps or from certified race timing.

What is a demo run?

Home has a Try a demo run button, and Races has Try a demo race. Both play a clearly labeled synthetic route so you can see how recording and racing work. Demos are marked everywhere and never count toward your real totals or best activities.

How do I delete my data?

Open any activity under Races and choose Delete; the deletion syncs to iCloud and your other devices. Uninstalling Fitch removes all local data. To remove the iCloud copy, go to iOS Settings, open your Apple Account, then iCloud and its storage management, find Fitch, and delete its data. See the Fitch Privacy Policy for details.
